City of North Muskegon Master Plan & Zoning Ordinance Updates

North Muskegon partnered with Progressive Companies to develop a new master plan and zoning ordinance, aiming to transform the city from a quiet bedroom community to a vibrant hub for retail and housing development. The planning team engaged residents through creative outreach, including branded sunglasses and drink koozies, and hosted numerous pop-up events to gather input. Residents highlighted the city’s access to water, small-town charm, and walkability as key assets. The process also involved sub-area planning through design charrettes, where our urban planners and traffic engineers identified opportunities to revitalize the city’s business districts and enhance the built environment.
