Completed in 2012 by Progressive Companies, the award-winning Bissell Tree House at John Ball Zoo is a unique 4,800-square-foot structure with versatile space for meetings, education, and events. Accessed by a funicular railway, the Tree House is strategically positioned among the trees, offering a surprising view from the funicular path. Cantilevered decks extend into the treetops, providing an immersive experience and unique perspectives of the city and zoo. The project also incorporated rainwater collection cisterns for sustainable water usage and was carefully designed to minimize the impact on existing trees. The historic funicular connects visitors to nature and panoramic views.
