Nestled within Millennium Park, the Parks Department headquarters enhances public access to parks and support services while reflecting a commitment to sustainability. The 7,060-square-foot facility features an exposed traditional wood interior, complemented by locally sourced reclaimed wood and sandstone, creating a warm and natural aesthetic. Designed with functionality in mind, the site includes public access points, ample parking, and an outdoor patio for group activities, all positioned near the central resource storage facility.

Project goals centered on enhancing the department’s image, streamlining processes, integrating climate-responsive design, and ensuring financial sustainability. The result was a facility that exceeded expectations—construction was completed under budget, volunteer engagement increased, and operational efficiencies significantly improved. Progressive Companies provided architecture, civil engineering, and landscape architecture services, delivering a thoughtfully designed headquarters that supports both the Parks Department and the surrounding community. Completed in 2022 for $2.68 million, the project stands as a model of sustainable and efficient design.
