Progressive Companies partnered with Plainfield Charter Township to create the Reimagine Plainfield Corridor Plan for Plainfield Avenue (M-44). This corridor, once known as the “Motor Mile,” has seen stagnant commercial property tax receipts and numerous vacant properties. The project began with a nine-month pre-planning process led by a steering committee. Collaborating with Disability Advocates of Kent County, the committee experienced the corridor from the perspective of individuals with physical disabilities. They also engaged with the real estate and development community, local authorities, and environmental organizations. Now, Progressive Companies is assisting with negotiations to transform Plainfield Avenue, adding landscape medians, reducing driveway tapers, and closing driveways to revitalize the area.
