Mount Shasta Mall was a traditional-style indoor mall with “big box” anchors, located at the intersection of three major freeways. Its location made it highly visible and easily accessibly—a perfect combination to support a demalling effort. An important part of this effort included removing 30,000 square feet from a vacant anchor space to support a mix of smaller tenants including restaurants, entertainment, and lifestyle.

With the new frontage created by the demolition, the mix of tenants now face outward to the community instead of inward. Reducing the building footprint also allowed the design team to reconfigure a portion of the site to allow for a new 12,000 square-foot outparcel building supporting a mix of additional retail and restaurant tenants. This new building sits against a major intersection and serves as an iconic brand element for the mall. Ongoing work throughout the mall included various interior tenant fit outs for numerous retailers and finish upgrades throughout the malls public common areas.
