Progressive Companies Names Matt Taylor, AIA as Director of Design

Progressive Companies is pleased to announce Matt Taylor, AIA as the new Director of Design. In this role, Matt will continue the firm’s commitment to design excellence and will champion efforts to elevate design voice on a national scale, integrating performance based, inclusive, and sustainable design into projects across practice areas and disciplines. He will also lead the development and mentorship of design teams across the organization.

“Matt will continue to build upon the firm’s culture of curiosity and collaboration that is integral to the delivery of a trusted, client focused co-creation experience,” said Bradley Thomas, president and CEO.  

Matt joined the firm’s Detroit office earlier this year to help grow the Sports and Entertainment market. As a senior design architect, he has designed some of the largest and most iconic sports facilities in the world, working for notable clients like the Atlanta Braves, the USTA, Daytona International Speedway, and Michigan State University. His focus has been on guiding project teams toward innovative solutions ranging from large professional sports campuses and facilities to collegiate and community venues.  

“Architecture has the power to bring people together and change lives. I’m eager to take what I’ve learned from transformational projects for sports, entertainment, education, and transportation, and apply it to our national design practice,” he says. “I’m looking forward to collaborating with our team of highly talented staff for future-focused design excellence, client engagement, and the stewardship of our core ideology of performance-based design.”

Matt holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Detroit Mercy. He has worked as an adjunct professor at University of Detroit Mercy and regularly gives back to his local community in Detroit, MI by donating his design services.
