Progressive Companies transformed Aquinas College’s Grace Hauenstein Library into a modern campus hub, seamlessly blending a thriving student center with essential learning resources. The renovated space encompasses meeting rooms, computer labs, open study areas, special collections, archive spaces, and multimedia production services.
The design prioritized natural light as well as technology, creating a state-of-the-art library and media center that invites students from the vibrant piazza space of the Jarecki Center. Remarkably, 90% of the Jarecki/Lacks building’s outer structure and 85% of its interior elements were retained, showcasing a commitment to preserving the site’s architectural heritage. Additionally, the project exemplified environmental responsibility by diverting over 82% of all construction waste from local landfills through recycling and reuse.
With an emphasis on connection to nature and occupant well-being, exterior views were strategically incorporated, providing scenic perspectives for 93% of the building’s regularly occupied spaces. The transformation has enhanced Aquinas’s academic environment and underscores the firm’s dedication to sustainable and forward-thinking design
